With 30 years in the arts and more than 20 years in sculpture, I am equally skilled in commercial / fine art fabrication, design and pre-visualization.

I began my career in the arts as a painter pursuing large oil portraits with traditional/realistic techniques. I’ve also done much scenic painting and mural work. The pursuit of trying to describe 3 dimensional figures and shapes on 2 dimensional planes imbued me with certain disciplines that made my finding my way to sculpting a natural transition. I have been sculpting since 1987. In that time, I’ve learned a few things:

I am expert in the use of polyester, urethane, epoxy, Aqua-Resin, foam carving, clay, plaster, and paper- mache. I am equally accomplished in life casting, hyper-realistic figure construction, welded armatures, silicone, fiberglass and, plaster mold making.

I have a deep understanding of translating 2 dimensional licensed characters (or, just about anything) into 3 dimensional sculpture in almost any scale. I have hands on, practical experience in sculptural and architectural modularity and mechanical animation. I have the same level of experience with large scale installations.

I am a big believer in the use of models and maquettes as an important part of the design process. As such I have a great deal of experience in model construction. Photo composition and pre-visual presentation of ideas is also extremely important in planning big projects and generally the first step before a model unless of course, the model represents a component in the comp. I am comfortable working in both Mac and Windows environments. I am advanced in Photoshop and have done intricate work in Adobe Illustrator and I am currently studying Zbrush ( 3d sculpting program).
My work has been applied to the services of Museums, Galleries, Motion Pictures, Video, Theater, Theme and Amusement Parks, Parades, Special Events, Display, Architecture, Prototypes, Trade Shows and Product Design.

I am proficient in the design of helium and cold air inflatables. As such, I have a profound knowledge of pneumatic principals applied to
the construction of monumentally scaled shapes.

I worked with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as Chief Sculptor and Design Associate for 12 years. It was an enormously lucky position to have held in that it afforded me the opportunity to increase my repertoire in a way that no other studio on this side of the country could. While I was with Macy’s, I collaborated on projects with some of the most important studios and corporate clientele in the world. They include but, are not limited to: MGM, Warner Brothers, Ablin, Pixar, Disney, Jim Henson Studios, United Artists, HBO, Marvel Comics, Fox, Scholastic, Nickelodeon, Met Life, Sega, Animal Planet, Aol, Family Channel, Days Inn, American Express, The New York Daily News, Planters Peanuts and NBC.

I had the great privilege of working for StudioEIS for the better part of a 2 year gig. There, I was afforded the rare and valuable opportunity of working with and learning from some of the very best figure and portrait sculptors from around the world. In my time there, I participated in the construction of more than 100 figures, destined for museums and public installations including: The Smithsonian Institution, The National Museum of the Marine Corps, The Griffith Observatory, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, The National Postal Museum and, Morristown Green.

I served as Carole Feuerman’s lead sculptor for the creation of her last cycle of new works. Carol Feuerman is an internationally recognized pioneer of Hyper-Realistic sculpture and is noted in the same echelons as Duane Hanson, John De Andrea, Ron Mueck, Evan Penny, Mark Sijam and Sam Jinks. In my time with Carole, I managed production, brought new techniques that effectively streamlined fabrication, sculpting, molding, casting and finishing works to facilitate her numerous shows: Jim Kempner Gallery NY, Moretti Gallery Florence It., Beijing Biennale , Beijing Olympics, Amarillo Museum of Art, Shanghai Art fair, Art Basel, Art Miami and, The El Passo Museum of Art.
